Deborah Stead is a Post Adoption Support Social Worker and adopter to two daughters.
In a previous professional life she practiced as a solicitor until adopting her girls. Her knowledge of attachment began when reading to prepare for the placement of her girls.
She hasn't stopped reading since!
Deciding not to return to the legal profession she attended the University of Chester to complete a Graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in Social Work, leading to her final dissertation being an analysis of the impact of attachment theory on social work practise, policy and legislation at a societal level.
Deborah then joined After Adoption presenting and developing the SafeBase programmes before later moving to a Regional Adoption Agency.
Although her focus is now on training, Deborah's experience extends to other aspects of the adoption process, such as family finding, preparation of Child’s Permanence Reports, Theraplay®, Statutory Visits and Post Adoption Support to families.
Deborah continues to deliver training programmes to this day, both on her own and as part of a Team.
We run parenting programmes for adopters of teenagers and siblings as well as special guardians.
